A prototype proves that something can work. An operating model proves that a team can use it safely, repeatedly and commercially.
AI experiments are easy to start because one motivated person can produce an impressive result quickly. The harder transition begins when the capability must survive different users, source material, quality expectations and business risks.
Define the job before the tool
The strongest use cases begin with a recurring decision or production bottleneck. A model should have a clear input, owner, quality standard and downstream action. Without those boundaries, speed simply creates more material to review.
Build governance into the workflow
Governance is not a gate added at the end. It means approved sources, transparent review, brand and legal checks, human accountability and a clear record of what changed.
Measure capacity and commercial effect
The practical test is whether the new workflow improves judgment, cycle time, consistency or customer outcomes. When those gains can be repeated across a team, the experiment has become capability.
